Production Strategy for Trek 03

In my trek 01 and 02 I explored both urban areas and wooded areas, but for my third trek I plan on exploring wooded areas. specifically the woods surrounding the river walk and the downer woods. i am looking for a contrast between nature and the unnatural for example brightly colored signs on trees, plastic food wrappers in the woods anything that will make an interesting contrast with the earthy tones of nature. as I traveled through the woods on the river walk during my first two treks i found some interesting man made objects hidden around, and not that the leaves have fallen the contrasts are even more obvious.

I will limit my image capturing activities by only capturing stills and video in nature.
I will focus on contrasts between nature and man made objects.

I will record sound from my specific area.
I will record mechanical(man-made) sounds to represent some of the natural sounds of my area.

Ten Qeustions

1. Can I show contrasts of the natural(e.g. vegetation, natural water, etc.) and the unnatural(e.g. garbage,man-made infrastructure, etc.) in my area?
2. What mood or feeling does my area have and can I change this with my photography? (if my area looks pleasant and calm can I make it eerie and unsettling)
3. Can I create any patterns in my compositions?
4. Are there any interesting sounds in the area?
5. can I create movement in my photography of the area?
6. Can I animate movement from still pictures?
7. Can I put mechanical sounds to natural visuals ?
8. How can I show interaction in the area?
9. What characteristics of the area do I want to exxagerate and what characteristics do i want to hide in my video?
10. How can I intergrate stills and video of the area and not lose continuity in my video?

Trek Assessment #4

My favorite experience was during my second trek when I photographed this school house it was on the weekend so the place was very quite and calm. With no body in my way i felt no rush I took my time experimenting with different ways of photographing things. this experience changed the way i thought about taking stills. I never realized how much more intimidating something looks when photographed from a low angle. Or how you can change the way people perceive things just by changing the angle.

Trek Assessment #3

During my first trek I attempted to pick up some traffic sounds but to my surprise there were very few cars out that day. Maybe because it was early on a Saturday. Another disapointment came after I went on my first trek, I transfered my sounds to cd and began editing them i realized that they were not as clear as I thought they were. I was disappointed with the way they came out. another unexpected situation came about during my second trek. I found this rusty old chain link fence and i thought it was very intriguing so I stopped to take some pictures of it. but so many people were around it was hard to get closeup pictures of the fence without having a hand or a neck in the shot. and the wide shots didn't come out to good either. With people in the shots the fence kinda of loses its identity and the people stand out more.

Trek Assessment #2

I felt very peacefully while taking photos in an empty school yard, it was very quite and calm that day. With conditions like that its very easy to concentrate on what your doing and get some really great footage. I also felt very peaceful while I was recording the Milwaukee river during my first trek. The sound of running water can be quite relaxing. the smell of the Milwaukee river is not as pleasant.

Trek Assessment #1

A situation which aggravated me during my first trek was attempting to isolate certain sounds. Whenever I found a sound I liked it was masked by a clutter of sounds. While I was recording sounds on the river walk I found some good sounds but it was impossible to record for more than ten seconds without a bike passing by and interrupting the recording. One thing that aggravated me during my trek 02 were people continually walking into my shots, at some of my locations, others I had no problem.
